He was appointed co-chief executive of Emap Data and Insight in May 2008 and reported directly to Emap chief executive David Gilbertson.

Bradford has since led operations at the company's popular online fashion portal WGSN, but started the year axing 10% of its 300-strong international workforce.

A spokesman for the company confirmed no decision had been made about whether Bradford will be replaced directly, but in the interim period his duties will be undertaken by Gilbertson.

Bradford's co-chief executive, Rupert Keane, remains at the division.

Before joining Emap, Bradford had been chief executive of technology firm OrderWork.

Earlier this month, Apax, the private equity company that bought the Emap business division along with Guardian Media Group at the start of 2008, wrote off its £300m investment to zero, blaming the slump in global media.

Within the last month, Emap has also sold its media and marketing brand M&M, including its magazine and events business, to previous licensee C-Squared.
