BR Video: Will Obama's victory boost America's image abroad?

LONDON - Barack Obama's victory will repair the image of America in the eyes of the rest of the world, according to members of the public interviewed in the latest Brand Republic video -- watch it now.

Following Obama's presidential election victory over Republican candidate John McCain, Brand Republic took to the streets to find out if people think his election will improve the image of the US in the rest of the world and what Obama's first steps should be.

Most people interviewed were confident that it would boost the US's image and that his first steps should be to focus on the global economy.

In Brand Republic's poll, 86.3% of people said that it would boost the reputation of the US, just 2% said it wouldn't and 11.8% said it was too early to tell.

UK newspapers celebrated Obama's historic victory last week with wall-to-wall coverage as he was elected the 44th President of the United States.

The Sun's front-page was entirely devoted to the result, with a photo of Obama in an action-man-style pose; running, sleeves rolled up and ready for the hard work ahead, framed by a fluttering stars and stripes.

The Daily Mirror showed a stern-looking Obama silhouetted against the American flag under the headline "GOBAMA!", accompanied by four pages of coverage, while the Daily Star went with "Yanks Very Much!".
