The high street chemist chain has said it is in talks with condom maker Durex to introduce the new lines, which would include vibrators and massage oils. The Financial Times reports that SSL, owner of Durex, hopes to have the range in Boots stores next year.
It is part of moves by Boots to increase its popularity with women, which has seen the introduction of lines such as children's clothes.
The move also signifies how far the sex toy market has come in recent year. Once the preserve of seedy basements, sex shops are now a fixture on high streets all over the country.
Ann Summers alone has 117 stores, and rival sex-toy chain Harmony has just opened a superstore on London's main shopping thoroughfare, Oxford Street.
Boots is currently running an ad campaign starring the comedian Harry Hill promoting its Christmas catalogue, which is part of a series of ads backing the high street retailer's seasonal offering.
Earlier this month, the retailer was rapped by Ofcom over an advertising campaign starring Jonny Wilkinson, offering free cholesterol testing. The campaign was so successful that Boots could not meet demand, but Ofcom said that the company should have anticipated that the offer would be hugely popular.
