On the evening of 24 June approximately one million flower petals will be released into the air in a bid to raise awareness of ‘insneezia’, a sympton of night-time hay fever.

The stunt also encourages people to take control of their hay fever so that it doesn’t affect their sleeping patterns.

Visitors and passers-by will be able to dance in the shower of petals at St Christopher's Place from 8pm, when hay fever symptoms are said to peak and London’s pollen levels are at their highest.

Angela Chalmers, pharmacist at Boots, said: "For many hay fever sufferers their symptoms can become worse in the evening as the pollen in the air falls with the heat of the day.

"We want people to understand that they can take steps to keep their hayfever in check so they can get a good night’s sleep."
