THE BOOK OF LISTS: The 10 Fattest UK Magazines

1. YOU AND YOUR WEDDING JANUARY/FEBRUARY - 317 AD PAGES

NatMags' title holds the same number-one slot it achieved last year. However, its total of 317 ad pages is down from last year's high of 343 ad pages. The magazine boasted a total of 500 pages plus a 52-page supplement.

2. VOGUE SEPTEMBER - 275 AD PAGES

Conde Nast's fashion glossy continues to be a banker. Not quite as large as the 2001 September issue featuring Giselle, but another big September showing highlights that women's glossies can survive in the downturn.

3. GLAMOUR DECEMBER - 226 AD PAGES

Glamour's circulation success continues to fuel the growth of its advertising. Last year, its largest issue managed 172 ad pages but its end-of-year bumper issue is its largest yet.

4. GQ OCTOBER - 225.25 AD PAGES

Once again, GQ's Men of the Year issue brought in large amounts of advertising around stars such as David Bowie and Nick Hornby.

5. COSMOPOLITAN OCTOBER - 216 AD PAGES

Despite losing out to Glamour in the circulation battle, The National Magazine Company's Cosmopolitan is still attracting heavy volumes of advertising. Its largest issue outweighed its most hefty of 2001 by 22 ad pages.

6. ELLE OCTOBER - 209 AD PAGES

Emap will feel the loss of Elle to Hachette Filipacchi UK sorely, particularly as its largest issue attracted more than 200 pages of advertising.

7. BRIDES MARCH/APRIL - 207 AD PAGES

The lucrative wedding title market is also a gift for Conde Nast with the largest issue of its Brides title bringing in more advertising than its record-breaking January/February issue of last year.

8. TATLER OCTOBER - 176 AD PAGES

Yet another women's glossy that is doing well in advertising terms. Featuring Jade Jagger in a sumptuous cover shoot, the October issue attracted advertisers including Ralph Lauren, Gap, Armani and British Airways.

9. FHM DECEMBER - 168 AD PAGES

Emap's market-leading lads' magazine did not make the top ten last year but its end-of-year issue shows that there is still life in the men's monthly market.

10. WORLD OF INTERIORS OCTOBER - 148 AD PAGES

In 2001, World of Interiors produced its largest-ever edition but its largest 2002 issue was some way short of this. However, the quality of the advertising remains high.
