Bonnier drafts in database legal expert to support DM work

LONDON - Bonnier Business Information has appointed Kilian Knote as a law consultant to advise its portfolio of firms, including direct marketing outfits Propect Swetenhams and Market Monitor.

Key areas for Knote will be data protection and financial regulations governing databases and database rights.

It is hoped her role will help raise the firms' profile within the direct marketing industry because she will be called on to comment on new laws.

Knote will be based at Bonnier Business Information's UK head office in Middlesex.

Hugh Bessant, Prospect Swetenhams and Market Monitor managing director, said: "In the DM industry, we have always received the chance to comment but without a dedicated resource to respond proactively and give it the time it deservers, our responses, like most of our competitors, have been sketchy and half-hearted."

"We also need to reality check our approach to the various data protection laws under which we operate," he said.
