Bonnier acquires European D&B firms in £13m deal

LONDON - Bonnier, parent company of data marketing company Prospect Swetenhams, has bought six European businesses of D&B, Europe's largest data firm, in a deal worth 拢13m.

Bonnier Business Information will take control of D&B businesses covering Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic.

The D&B businesses, formerly known as Dun & Bradstreet, will sit with Bonnier Business Information, one of Bonnier's six divisions, which offers digital business information. The businesses will also retain their D&B branding.

Bonnier intends to make a substantial investment in the newly acquired businesses to further improve data quality and IT infrastructure.

Hugh Bessant, managing director of Prospect Swetenhams, said: "Our depth of content in business-to-business data is growing all of the time. Coupled with Bonnier's continued investment in both IT and data quality, this will ensure that we are a major pan-European player in all our core business areas -- namely direct marketing, credit and business information."

The move follows Bonnier's acquisition of Dun & Bradstreet's Scandinavian businesses in 2003.
