Bolloré makes another Aegis board push

Aegis Group has agreed to hold another extraordinary general meeting to allow shareholders to vote on the election of two board nominees put forward by Vincent Bolloré, chairman of rival agency network Havas.

Bolloré, who owns a 29.1% stake in Havas’s rival Aegis, has already failed in two attempts to install Roger Hatchuel and Philippe Germond on the Aegis board.
However, on Tuesday Bolloré said he would ask the board for yet another shareholder vote. Aegis responded by saying that it will write to its shareholders with details of another EGM.
To date, Aegis bosses have opposed Bolloré’s approaches on the basis that there is a conflict of interest with his role at Havas. It is thought that Bolloré is eager to align Aegis’s media planning and buying network with Havas’s Media Planning Group.
