BMP team takes on new BBH role

Neil Dawson and Clive Pickering, one of BMP DDB's top creative

teams, have resigned to become creative directors at Bartle Bogle

Hegarty.

The duo, who were behind much of BMP's most highly decorated Volkswagen

work, including its "wedding" Polo spot, will report to John O'Keeffe,

BBH's executive creative director.

They will be one of a few teams to have creative sign-off on a number of

accounts at BBH. It has yet to be decided which accounts the team will

be working on.

Dawson said: "We apologise for the timing and we've had a lot of fun

over the last four years. We're sad to leave but it's a great

opportunity."

He added: "BBH has got so much in common with BMP in terms of its

pedigree and history. John O'Keeffe seems a straight-talking person who

we got on with instantly."

O'Keeffe said: "They've got a great track record. There's a fantastic

momentum at BBH, which I want to keep going. I'm sure they'll add to

that immensely."

Dawson and Pickering have amassed a raft of awards during their four

years at BMP. They won two silvers at last year's ±±¾©Èü³µpk10 Poster awards

for Volkswagen, among others.

The pair teamed up while working together at Leo Burnett 11 years ago.

They left the agency in 1994 for The White House in South Africa, moving

to TBWA in Cape Town. They returned three years later and were hired by

Tony Cox to work at BMP.

Ross Barr, the joint managing director of BMP, said: "They're a terrific

team who've made a great impression here. We're very sad to see them go,

but we understand they want to move on. We wish them the very best of

luck."

O'Keeffe added: "We need very senior talent to handle our new business.

People here know them and speak very highly of them. I'm sure they'll be

a brilliant addition to the agency."

In 1998 Dawson and Pickering won the gold at the Aerial Awards for their

"tales of the unexpected" VW spot. They also won awards for their "for

your safety" and "fish and chips" spots.

While at BMP the team also created the burymeright.com advertising

campaign.
