BLM retains £7m Pathe account

BLM has retained the £7m media planning and buying account for film distributor Pathe Distribution after a four-way pitch against M2M, Starcom and Universal McCann.

Pathe narrowed its shortlist to three agencies after Starcom dropped out of the running. It kicked off the media review through the AAR in March to boost its online advertising. The French-owned independent distributor also introduced new supplier procurement guidelines, including a requirement to review suppliers after three years.

Independent agency BLM has held the account since September 2003, when it picked up the business after a four-way pitch against The Allmond Partnership, Equinox and Pathe's then 10-year incumbent Carat.

Pathe Distribution releases about 20 titles a year, ranging from specialist films to mainstream movies.

Recent hits include Oscar winner The Queen, Palme d'Or winner The Wind That Shakes The Barley and Pedro Almodovar's Volver.
