Bliss tipped to reign as top teen mag

Emap's Bliss is expected to steal Sugar's crown as the biggest selling teenage magazine in next month's ABCs, a position that Sugar has held since the mid-1990s.

According to industry insiders, Bliss will post a "stable" ABC for the July to December period that should put it ahead of Hachette's long-time market leader, with Sugar recording another fall. Hachette declined to comment. The growth builds on Bliss's increase of 7.4% year on year in the last ABCs for January to June, when Sugar's sales were down 3.4%. Sugar relaunched with its March cover-dated issue in a handbag size.

Overall, the figures are expected to show yet again a decline in the sector, despite publishers employing a raft of tactics to stave off competition from online and mobile media.

CosmoGirl switched from a three-weekly frequency back to monthly in August and Top of the Pops also reverted back from fortnightly to monthly in December.
