BlinkBox signs Peugeot as first sponsor

Newly launched film clip and download website BlinkBox has signed French car manufacturer Peugeot as its first sponsor.

As part of a two-month deal, the Peugeot brand will appear in sponsorship credits, standard and pre-roll adverts on the new site, which came out of testing last week.

Peugeot will also sponsor BlinkBox's ad-supported TV and film service.

Since it went into testing in October 2007, BlinkBox claims to have attracted more than one million unique users. The site boasts 10,000 scenes from 1,600 movies and TV shows. Company founder Michael Cornish - a former Channel 4 executive and founder of Atom Films - has been negotiating with content owners since September and claims to have pulled together the web's largest legal film and TV collection.

Current content partners include Warner Brothers, Universal, Paramount, Aardman and Discovery, which have all signed up to share revenue earned via the service with BlinkBox.
