Bishop and Cullinane depart Saatchis

Saatchi & Saatchi is reducing its senior management line-up with

the departure of Peter Cullinane, its executive vice-president

worldwide, and the international new-business director, Alan Bishop,

both based at the network's global New York headquarters.

It is thought that Saatchis' worldwide chief executive, Kevin Roberts,

under pressure from Publicis, the parent company of the network, is

attempting to streamline his senior management, prepare his succession

plans, re-energise the network and ensure all new business is handled by

local managers.

Bishop, an agency "lifer", is widely credited with revamping Saatchis'

New York office in 1994, but returned to the UK office to become the

chairman.

He went back to New York in 1998 when the newly appointed Roberts gave

him his current job. He was not replaced as chairman in the UK.

Cullinane left the New York office before Christmas. Previously the head

of Saatchis in Australia, he was one of the team that persuaded Roberts

to leave his client-based job at the brewer Lion Nathan to take the top

role at Saatchis.

Cullinane's departure is said to be connected with the fact that he was

not regarded as a contender to succeed Roberts at the head of the

network.
