The awards will give entrants the opportunity to be crowned King or Queen of fish finger sandwiches, with the winner's recipe to be featured on select packs of Birds Eye fish fingers.

Data from Birds Eye suggests that sales of fish fingers are at an all time high of £85m, which is the equivalent of 1.5 million fish fingers being eaten per day.

The brand is looking for the most innovative fish finger sandwich creations to win the top prize. The awards will span two categories - one for the general public, and one for food service, with accolades awarded for presentation and creative use of ingredients.

A panel of industry experts will shortlist three sandwich creations from each category to go through to the final. Judges include television personality Greg Wallace, Birds Eye's head chef Peter Lack, Daily Telegraph food writer Xanthe Clay and 'Food Urchin' blogger, Danny Kingston.

The awards have been devised and created by Mischief PR and Recipe, and are currently being promoted across social media. The Fish Finger Awards are in partnership with the blogger community and fish finger restaurant Two Fingers.
