Big Brother rowdiness incurs local resident anger

LONDON - The 'Big Brother' housemates' rowdy and drunken behaviour has incurred the wrath of local councillors, who have slashed the Channel 4 show's lease on its Elstree studio home by six months.

The show's producer Endemol had hoped to lease the lot on the famous studio site for a further two years from January 2006, but following a number of complaints from nearby residents about noise, Hertsmere Borough Council has said the extension will start from the end of this summer instead.

The council has also put in place stricter rules on noise levels at night and in the early morning that will be reviewed annually, according to a report in the Borehamwood & Elstree Times.

Residents were also concerned about the loud early wake-up calls inflicted on the housemates.

It is reported that complaints to the council about noise have actually increased since the arrival of Kinga Karolczak on Sunday.

Since she arrived her drunken antics have included simulating sex with a wine bottle, an incident that prompted a staggering 200 complaints from viewers to Ofcom.

The regulator has confirmed it will investigate the incident, which was broadcast on the 10pm show on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, on tonight's show viewers will see whether Eugene or Derek will be evicted. Ladbrokes puts Tory fox hunter Derek as favourite for the chop at 1/5, with engineer Eugene having odds of 10/3 to depart.

Viewers will also see the housemates' disappointment at failing their rodeo task.

While Eugene and Derek passed their shooting section, Anthony failed to successfully lasso a cow and Makosi, Craig and Kinga botched the line dancing by breaking formation "in a moment of freestyle madness", according to Channel 4.

For their final week, the housemates will now have a shopping budget of just £35.
