Ben Priest on Adam & Eve's first film, and what creatives can learn from it now

Even legendary creative directors start somewhere.

Ben Priest, the outgoing group chief creative officer at Adam & Eve/DDB, recalls the first film he ever made at the start-up he co-founded a decade ago.

Adam & Eve’s first film was a 30-second TV spot for Cadbury’s Chocolate Digestives. Priest says he doesn’t think the ad is representative of the work the agency became known for – beautifully crafted, emotive advertising typified by campaigns such as John Lewis Christmas.

Yet his first project offers lessons for creatives trying to make their mark: "Don’t grip it too tightly," Priest says. "Get busy, make stuff, don’t worry too much if it’s going to define you."

Priest is leaving Adam & Eve/DDB and the advertising industry for good this week. Read his last interview with ±±¾©Èü³µpk10 here, on creativity, entertainment and avoiding obscurity.
