Autotrader.co.uk and Beeb.com have linked up with postcode-driven
online shopping directory abcaz (www.abcaz.com).
Abcaz enables consumers to research the most competitively priced
products within a certain radius, with the actual transaction and
fulfilment being handled offline by the buyer. It is aimed at people
wary of buying online but who want to benefit from internet research for
finding location-based deals and competitively priced goods.
Beeb.com is running the service as a white-label offering called Beeb
High Street Shopping. Within the Autotrader.co.uk site, there is a
branded link to a tailored section on abcaz that features suppliers
specifically offering car accessories.
"Beeb.com is an online resource and there is a lot of users who aren't
comfortable transacting online," said Julian Turner, chief executive at
beeb Ventures. "Our job is to put consumers in touch with products and
services from credibly informed sources."
So far, the company has signed up around 1,400 retailers in the M25
region, and has plans to roll the service out nationwide.
Abcaz receives commission for providing a sales lead, regardless of
whether a subsequent transaction occurs. Beeb.com receives a cut of the
sales lead commission.
