Beckham sponsors back footballer's move to Real Madrid

LONDON - Pepsi, Adidas and Vodafone stand to be the big brand winners as David Beckham's leaves Manchester United for Real Madrid in a £25m transfer.

All three of the player's main sponsors are understood to be satisfied with his move to the Spanish team.

Vodafone is not troubled by Madrid's partnership with handset manufacturer Siemens Mobile, and it is a media partner of the Primera Liga, Spain's equivalent of the Premier League.

Pepsi and Adidas, meanwhile, have international deals with Beckham and are both major sponsors of Madrid.

Such sponsorship synergies will play a role in the smooth passage of Beckham's transfer, which had faced competition from Barcelona and AC Milan.

Beckham's commercial backers believe a transfer will boost sales of their products in the country he moves to.
