BBH's Carroll steps up as deputy chairman

Bartle Bogle Hegarty is giving a broader role to Jim Carroll, its

planning director, by promoting him to deputy chairman and is bringing

back its planning chief from Singapore to replace him.

Carroll's job will be filled from Monday by Guy Murphy, who left the

London agency almost four years ago to become the head of planning at

BBH Asia Pacific.

The changes involving Carroll and Murphy - both former ±±¾©Èü³µpk10 Faces to

Watch - are in line with the agency's strategy of spreading the

expertise of its senior managers more evenly across its client base.

Carroll's promotion comes after ten years at BBH, which he joined as a

planner after spells at SRG International and Madell Wilmot Pringle.

Gwyn Jones, BBH's managing director, said: 'Jim makes a much more

significant contribution to the agency than just being head of planning.

He is as highly respected in the creative department as he is for his

planning skills and his promotion allows us to leverage his expertise

across more clients and functions.'

Murphy was a board account planner at BBH until he left London for the

Far East in July 1997. He built his reputation on the agency's Whitbread

account and won an IPA Effectiveness Award for his work on Boddingtons.
