BBH tipped to reclaim £15m ITV account

LONDON – Bartle Bogle Hegarty is being tipped by bookmakers as the favourite to win back the ITV account it resigned in 2005, following M&C Saatchi's decision not to repitch for the account.

Marketing broke the story on Monday on Brand Republic that ITV was to put its £15m advertising account up for review.

The review comes eight months after David Pemsel stepped into the role of group marketing director at the broadcaster, taking over from Clare Salmon.

M&C Saatchi won the account in 2005, following BBH's decision to resign the business shortly after Salmon's appointment.

Pemsel has appointed the AAR to handle the review and is expected to make an appointment before the end of the year.

Paddy Power has BBH as its 7/4 hot favourites to win the business with Mother, which recently worked on campaigns for ITV2, also in the running at 3/1.

The bookmaker has ITV's own creative team as the 14/1 outsiders. The in-house team have recently been behind the promotional spots for the Rugby World Cup.

Darren Haines, spokesman for Paddy Power, said: "ITV haven’t had an easy ride of late and it will be interesting to see who fancies their chances of reviving their fortunes."
