BBCi rolls out online science centre for kids

BBCi Schools is launching an educational site called Science Clips (www.bbc.co.uk/schools/scienceclips), aimed at five to 11-year-olds and their teachers.

The online science centre has 36 interactive Flash-based experiments, catering for different age groups. Buttons, levers and dials encourage children to explore, ask questions and learn by actually doing things.

A graded series of narrated tasks and a quiz accompany each one.

There are printable resources for teachers for lesson planning. Design agency Alternative View Studios created the site.

Myriam Compagni, producer at BBCi Schools, said: "This is a major new addition to BBCi Schools' online resources."
