BBC Worldwide set to report record jump in profits

LONDON - BBC Worldwide, the BBC's commercial arm, is expected to report a record jump in profits by as much as £13m when it announces its full-year results at the corporation's annual report presentation next month.

Profits are expected to hit £95m, up from £82m a year ago.

The growth spurt is likely to stir up further criticism that the corporation is failing to distinguish between its public service, funded by the licence fee, and its commercial operations.
