BBC Worldwide creates marketing director role

The business says that the role will be key to it's transition to a more consumer-facing international operation.

Reporting directly to chief executive John Smith, Kellie will work across all BBC Worldwide business areas to build up its marketing and audience research functions.

She will be responsible for prioritising its marketing activity and spend around the globe.

Kellie joins BBC Worldwide from the BBC, where she has been since 2000, first as head of brand and planning and more recently as director of marketing, communications, audiences and vision.

She was part of the team that launched BBC Three and CBBC and worked on marketing campaigns for shows including Dr Who, Strictly Come Dancing, Life in Cold Blood and the White Season.

BBC Worldwide recently reported an increase in annual operating profits, up by 17% to a record £117.7m. Demands for DVDs of popular shows pushed total sales up by 13% to £916m.
