Gorard said: "It is a massive challenge and I am looking
forward to working with the all the teams here at BBC World and BBC News Editorial, building on the excellent work which has been implemented since the rebranding of the channel 18 months ago."

Managing director of the channel, Patrick Cross, said: "Having joined BBC World
earlier this year, Jane has quickly illustrated an understanding of and passion for the BBC World channel. Her enthusiasm and expertise will play a vital role
in helping BBC World achieve its editorial and commercial objectives."
