Other programmes include two major dramas, 'The Biggest Secret' and 'The Long Wait' and a two-hour documentary, 'The People's D-Day'.
The BBC is following that with 'D-Day To Berlin', a three-part series examining the strategic decisions taken by Field Marshall Montgomery and allied supreme commander Eisenhower in the 11 months following D-Day.
On the day itself, which will see Tony Blair and George Bush gather with thousands in Normandy, Huw Edwards will anchor BBC One's live coverage of the commemoration events, which include a special service at the war graves at Bayeux and a march past of 8,000 British veterans at Arromanches.
