The first edition of the new 24-page mag, which will hit the newsstands on 18 October, will include a free sticker sheet bound into the magazine, as well as a free gift.

Tweenies magazine launched in October 1999 and has sold nearly 15 million copies to date.

Ceri Murray, assistant pre-school publisher at BBC Children's Magazines, which is part of BBC Worldwide, said the magazine has proved “an invaluable stalwart in the BBC’s pre-school portfolio”.

The Tweenies also feature in BBC Magazine’s CBeebies Weekly magazine, which launched in March last year.

The latest BBC Magazine to come from a TV show was Who Do You Think You Are?, the programme in which celebrities trace their family trees, which went on sale at the end of September.
