BBC and Sky set to win rugby TV rights

LONDON - The BBC and BSkyB look set to scoop the TV rights to international rugby union games in a three-year deal valued at between £150m and £200m.

The Rugby Football Union's management board is meeting on Thursday to pass the proposals ahead of its presentation to the RFU committee on June 18.

The package will cover the rights to national rugby, selected England internationals, championship playoffs, the Middlesex Sevens national cup competitions and the Oxford-Cambridge varsity matches.

A deal could see the BBC's Rugby Special programme return to its Sunday schedule. The programme was scrapped when the BBC lost the rights to club rugby to BSkyB.
