BBC promotes new digital children's channels

The BBC plans to promote its two new digital children's channels

CBBC and Cbeebies, and its web site and interactive services, via an

on- and off-air campaign launching on February 4. The four trails for

Cbeebies, the channel for under-fives, by DFGW, follow the Cbeebies

'bugs' travelling through key shows in the schedule, such as Tweenies

and Teletubbies. The off-air work includes 1.5 million mailshots to

playgroups and doctors' surgeries, and press and poster ads. The CBBC

campaign introduces the strapline 'Back off Grandma' and CBBC 'bugs'

will infiltrate key shows across BBC One and BBC Two. The off-air

element includes press ads, 1.6 million postcards in schools and

cinemas, online work and a guerrilla street campaign.
