BBC picks Radio Five Live man to head new media

The BBC has appointed Radio Five Live, Steve Conway as the first

head of marketing and communications for its new media division and

handed roster agency Duckworth Finn Grubb Waters the task of creating

campaigns for its online properties.

Conway was marketing manager at Radio Five Live and will be responsible

for promoting bbc.co.uk, the broadcaster's interactive TV initiatives

and its creative think-tank Imagineering.

He replaces new media head of marketing Tim Ledgard, who left three

months ago to join Hallmark's internet team, devising electronic

greetings cards. Conway will also take responsibility for the BBC's new

media publicity department. He will report to the BBC's director of

marketing Andy Duncan and Ashley Highfield, director of new media and

technology.

Conway has yet to be replaced at Five Live. While there he oversaw the

rebranding of the station's identity and the creation of analogue and

digital marketing strategies.
