The travel title, which will have a print run of 40,000 copies in Brazil, will be published under an agreement with BBC Magazines by Ediouro Duetto Editorial, a Brazil-based publisher of magazines and books.

BBC Magazines has also signed a deal for its science magazine, BBC Knowledge, which will also have a print run of 40,000, to be produced in Brazil by the same publisher.

Lonely Planet magazine will go on sale on 26 June and BBC Knowledge tomorrow (19 June) in Brazil.

Both titles will be edited by Daniel Stycer, who has 20 years' experience in print and digital journalism.

Lonely Planet magazine launched in the UK in November 2008, as the corporation looked to exploit the reputation of the Lonely Planet guides.

BBC Worldwide, its parent group, purchased the travel information group in October 2007.
