LONDON (Brand Republic) – A row has broken between the BBC and ITV amid accusations that the commercial broadcaster used less difficult questions in last night’s Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, which saw the first winner of the £1m jackpot, in order to win a rating battle.
A BBC insider is said to have accused the commercial broadcaster of making the questions easier in order to beat the screening of the final episode of the BBC’s One Foot in the Grave, in which lead character Victor Meldrew died.
The BBC raised similar concerns when a contestant on Who Wants to be a Millionaire? recently won £500,000. That episode was shown against the BBC’s hour-long episode of Eastenders.
