The title is looking to enhance the BBC Focus brand and build on its strong recent circulation performance.
It averaged a monthly circulation of 70,122 copies during the first six months of 2008, a 14.1% year-on-year increase, while other men's lifestyle titles generally endured a tough first half of 2008.
The 14-year-old title, which focuses on science and technology issues, was previously owned by NatMags, before being acquired by BBC Magazines in 2001. It will debut its new look in October, with a more sophisticated design.
Other changes include the introduction of a new cover design, a new font style, plus an overhaul of its review section, focusing more particularly on consumer gadgets.
In addition, BBC Magazines will overhaul the BBC Focus website, with the introduction of a new design and new content.
Jheni Osman, editor of BBC Focus, said the redesign "is about giving the magazine a more adult look". The revamp will be backed by a marketing campaign, including inserting sample issues of the new-look BBC Focus in Radio Times magazine.
News of the B BC Focus relaunch comes just weeks after BBC Magazines unveiled plans to launch Lonely Planet magazine in the UK later this year. The launch of the title is the first major brand extension of the travel guide publisher since the BBC's commercial arm, BBC Worldwide, acquired a 75% stake in it last October.
Lonely Planet will be available on news-stands and through subscriptions.
