BBC brings in brand manager for <BR>Top of the Pops

LONDON - BBC Worldwide has appointed Simon Kendall from BBC Radio as brand manager for the corporation's international flagship pop brand 'Top of the Pops'.

Kendall takes up his new post on May 6, where he will be charged with managing the global reach of the brand, which already has a magazine associated with it and its own branded awards, across all media and markets.

Kendall was previously head of BBC Radio International which distributes the BBC's radio shows around the world.

'Top of the Pops' is already available in 90 territories, including the Netherlands, Germany and Italy, where local versions of the show are produced.

Kendall will report to BBC Music's marketing and business director Anna Broughton.

Broughton said: "Simon already feels part of the 'Top of the Pops' team, having been responsible for bringing the brand to radio in a number of key markets. Simon is joining the team at a very important time for the 'Top of the Pops' brand."

Kendall joined the BBC five years ago and was made head of BBC radio International just six months ago.
