BBC Magazines is to launch its technology title, Tomorrow’s World,
on 5 March in the hope of carving out a new niche in the men’s monthly
magazine market.
The magazine, which will aim for a settledown circulation of 80,000,
will draw on the BBC’s science and technology programming including its
namesake, Tomorrow’s World, as well as QED and Horizon.
Stuart Snaith, BBC Worldwide’s publishing director of motoring, sport
and entertainment, said: ’It will focus on innovation and leading-edge
technology, but it will also contain people stories and a spicy dash of
humour.’
The magazine aims to build regular readership among professional ABC1
men aged 30 to 54 who are are keen to educate their children aged 11 to
18, and men who list the Internet as one of their main interests.
The magazine will be promoted through next month’s Tomorrow’s World
exhibition and through the television programme’s online site. BBC
science programmes will cross-promote the new title and a national
press, radio and poster campaign will advertise the launch. There will
be an initial print run of 150,000.
