BBC appoints editor to new business portal

The BBC has appointed Sunday Business writer Guy Dresser to edit

its new business portal. He is editor of the e-business and management

pages at the newspaper and should take up his new role in the next two

months.

"I haven't started there yet, but it is an interesting project that

shows the BBC's commitment to enhancing its business coverage," said

Dresser, who also spent nine months as deputy city editor at the

now-defunct financial news site TheStreet. co.uk.

The exact content and structure of the portal has yet to be finalised,

but it aims to offer both business and personal finance information from

the BBC's business and economics units. The BBC hopes to launch the new

project in the next few weeks.

Aggregated content will range from Radio 4's weekly Moneybox show to BBC

2's The Money Programme.

"We want to make it easier for people to access them from a single

portal," said a spokeswoman at BBC Worldwide.
