The network, home to BBC soaps and sitcoms like 'Coupling', 'Little Britain' and 'My Family', has reached almost half of all cable homes, accounting for 37% of all US households, according to the data.
The six-year-old channel also produces American versions of UK formats like 'Ground Force'. The BBC shows the US shows in the UK and vice-versa, effectively getting two shows for the price of one.
Jo Petherbridge, acting CEO of BBC America, said. "This is a huge milestone for the network and a significant moment for British television in the American market. Thanks to the sterling work of our partners at Discovery, BBC America is widely available in the US and more Americans than ever are enjoying the wealth of creativity and innovation that UK television has to offer."
Mark Young, president and CEO of BBC Worldwide Americas, added: "When BBC America launched just a few years ago, many predicted that the only programming that would resonate would be costume drama and classic comedy from the past. Just six years on, BBC America has demonstrated there is an American audience eager for the UK's most creative and innovative new programming."
