The Power of Summer event series, which will run between 10 July and 31 August and is being organised in-house by BPSDC's events team, will consist of outdoor cinema screenings and a street food festival, located in the station’s Pop-Up Park space. It will be the last summer the public will have access to the Pop-Up Park before that area of the 42-acre redevelopment progresses.
Visitors will be able to access the space seven days a week, with a schedule for film screenings, music and food throughout the seven weeks.
A high-definition, nine-metre LED screen will screen a selection of films throughout the event series, including Toy Story, Dirty Harry, The Wolf of Wall Street and Wayne’s World. A screening of the Fifa World Cup final will also take place on 13 July.
The cinema will have a capacity of 250 seats, 76 of which will be premier tickets with bespoke pods designed to offer a more private experience for couples and small groups, featuring a pre-film table service as well as being covered. The will also be a licenced covered bar area with a capacity of 1,000 people.
London night market Street Feast will be bringing a selected of street food traders to the event, and a partially-covered drinks area will feature a Prosecco and oyster bar.
Rob Tincknell, chief executive of BPSDC, said: "We are delighted to host this one-off event on our site for the local London community. We feel passionately about making Battersea accessible not only to those who have bought here but to those who want to come and enjoy our unique location on the river.
"We are working hard to create a diverse cultural community so this exciting summer schedule will offer people the chance to come and experience this first hand and to get a real flavour of what is to come once the park opens officially in the future."
