Barnardo's hires DM specialist for advertising role

Barnardo's, the children's charity, has appointed direct marketing

specialist Diana Green as its new head of advertising and

communications, replacing Suzanne Heaney who left in June.

Green starts in the role in January, joining from DM agency Lion where

she was deputy client services director. She brings to the role more

than ten years' experience in marketing for both the voluntary and

commercial sectors.

Prior to joining Lion she had headed Brann's charity unit.

She reports to marketing director Andrew Nebel. Green's predecessor

Heaney left Barnardo's just before the launch of a provocative £1m

advertising campaign created by Bartle Bogle Hegarty.

The ads show images of people who have shot themselves, fallen from a

building, drowned in a river, hung themselves, and been beaten to death

to illustrate the possible fates of people who have been neglected as

children.

Heaney joined Barclays as senior advertising and brand manager for

business banking, following an 18-month stint at the charity.
