Barclays taps BT's Sara Bennison for senior marketing role

The former head of account management at Grey London, she replaces Sarah Wise, who left to join former Barclays retail banking marketing director Jim Hytner at Top-Up TV. Bennison, who takes up her role on 5 September, will report to Hytner's replacement, Dave Jeppeson. Bennison's role will encompass UK advertising, brand and branch merchandising.

Her appointment is the latest in a series of changes at the bank, following the naming of Barclaycard marketing boss Libby Chambers as chief marketing officer for global retail and commercial banking. Another new starter in September will be Cabinet Office permanent secretary for government communications, Howell James, who joins as corporate affairs director in September.

Last week Barclays announced a five-year, £17.5m global sponsorship deal with the ATP, the governing body for men's professional tennis. From 2009, the ATP's showcase end-of-season tournament will be renamed the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.
