Barclays resumes advertising mortgages on TV

LONDON - Barclays is to return to marketing its Woolwich-branded mortgage products with a light-hearted TV campaign.

The ad promotes its Offset Mortgage, which enables customers to use the contents of their savings and current accounts to reduce mortgage balance they are charged interest on.

It shows a woman chasing piggy banks through a garden, with a voiceover by The Office and Extras star Stephen Merchant saying: ‘When rates are low, knowing what to do with your savings can be a bit of a struggle.'

The campaign, by incumbent agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty, is the latest in a series of Barclays ads using the ‘Take one small step' strapline. The new marketing strategy, which launched last month, sees the high-street bank position itself around how it is helping its customers manage their money better.

The campaign breaks 25 April.
