Barclaycard to review account

- Barclaycard has stunned BMP DDB by putting its £15 million ($24.6 million) creative account up for review. It has invited Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO, Bartle Bogle Hegarty and WCRS to pitch against the incumbent.

BMP has held the account for nine years and produced some award winning and highly praised ads featuring Rowan Atkinson. Its most recent campaign carried the line: 'Don't put it off…Put it on Barclaycard'.

Paul Parmenter, the marketing director at Barclaycard, said: "BMP has produced exceptional advertising for Barclaycard. However, looking to 1999 as we advance our marketing strategy, it is clear that this is an ideal time for Barclaycard to look for some new thinking ideas."
