Bafta-winner Bill Nighy to voice £3m Zanussi campaign

LONDON - Bill Nighy has followed up his Bafta-winning turn as an ageing rockstar in 'Love Actually' to play the voice of a washing machine in the new 拢3m ad campaign for Zanussi Electrolux.

The campaign, which breaks today, has been created by Electrolux's retained global agency Lowe and extends the idea launched in the Electrolux campaign from last year, where the ads are shot from the point of view of the appliance.

In the ad for the fridge/freezer, the appliance says that its owner is not thinking about defrosting her freezer because it is frost free. In the new ad, the washing machine, voiced by Nighy, tells viewers that its unique Jetsystem showers clothes to get them thoroughly clean and will even tell the users when they will be ready.

The ads are set to run on ITV, Channel 4, Five and major satellite channels, and run as part of a 拢10m campaign by the Electrolux Group. Media is through ZenithOptimedia, with 10-second, 20-second and 30-second executions planned.

Andrew Mackay, UK brand and marketing director for Electrolux home and outdoor products, said: "This creative is designed to really bring to live the Zanussi Electrolux promise of making life a little easier. And, with products that practically sell themselves in this way, it will make life easier for our retailers too."
