The move has outraged other contestants, including Ricardo from 'The Salon' and 'Big Brother'-winner Craig who have threatened to walk out, which now means just about every contestant on the set has "threatened" to walk.
The contestants claim that Five is favouring Jade to win and building the series around her and that they are merely the "decorating on the cake". The addition of her boyfriend certainly seems to add to this feeling.
Other theories that the contestants have about each other include 'Pop Idol' contestant Rik Waller milking the cameras for sympathy, prompting Jade to declare: "I want to get his head and squeeze it". Jose D'Arby has also been accused of being a mole, planted in the show to stir up controversy.
Five had billed the programme as the ultimate in reality television, confident that personalities who have captured the public interest in the past would provide an explosive mix in the new programme.
However, it has failed to ignite a wave of public interest in the way that 'I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!' and 'Big Brother' have done in the past, and ratings have only picked up slightly over the past week.
The show hit 1.2m on Sunday but slumped back down to 700,000 on Monday. Its introduction into daytime TV saw it attract only 100,000 viewers between 9.30am and 10am and an average of 300,000 for the 2.30pm afternoon show.
Introducing Jade's boyfriend is just one of several stunts that producers have pulled to try to create interest in the programme. They have also allowed a member of the public to stay in the house overnight and nightly visits from celebrities including Kerry McFadden and Peter Andre.
As well as failing to interest the public, the show, created by Princess Productions, has been accused of being poorly edited and there has been criticism of the hosts Richard Bacon and Tess Daly.
Five contestants have now left the house: Uri Gellar, who walked; Nick Bateman; Catalina Guirado; Lizzy Bardsley; and Sarah Kozer, who has admitted that it is unlikely she will take part in another British reality television programme.
This leaves Jade, Ricardo, Rik, Josie and Craig competing against James Hewitt and 'Driving School' alumnus Maureen Rees for the £75,000 prize, to be donated to a charity of their choice.
