B&Q hands £40m ad account to McCann Erickson

The appointment follows a review handled by the AAR which saw McCann Erickson pitch against Rapier, WCRS, MCBD. JWT was the incumbent on the account since 2003, but the agency did not repitch for the business.

The DIY retailer called the review in January, and appointed Rapier to work on a strategic project while it completed the full advertising review.

In March Warren Scarr was promoted from director of brand advertising to marketing director following Jo Kenrick's departure in December. Although Kenrick had the wider remit of marketing and customer proposition direct, Scarr now heads up the group's marketing, reporting into the retailer's commercial director, John Colley.
