Channel 4 has remained tight-lipped about who will be on 'Celebrity Big Brother', with surprises sure to feature in line with last year, when disgraced former Labour MP George Galloway appeared and went on to embarrass himself heavily.
According to reports, 'Hi-De-Hi' Su Pollard and MEP Robert Kilroy-Silk could also be making appearances.
It is understood Channel 4 failed to secure big-money deals to attract US entertainers David Hasselhoff, Whitney Houston, rapper Lil' Kim and Britney Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline, and that the new housemates will primarily be of UK-based origin.
Former 'Big Brother' contestant and Channel 4 regular Jade Goody is expected to make an appearance as well. She will run a beauty salon for several days in the house. Goody recently had a show on Living TV called 'Jade's PA'.
Channel 4 said that the new series, which is being sponsored by Carphone Warehouse, will also feature the spin-off programmes 'Celebrity Big Brother's Little Brother', hosted by Dermot O'Leary, and 'Celebrity Big Brother's Big Mouth', fronted by Russell Brand.
The broadcaster added that fans would be able to keep up to date with the goings-on in the 'Celebrity Big Brother' house through the 's live streaming subscription service, live streaming on E4, email updates and chat forums.
'Celebrity Big Brother' has also agreed a deal with Sony PlayStation Portable to allow users with wireless consoles to receive daily updates from the new series.
The money raised from the series' viewer text vote will be shared among the 11 participant's chosen charities.
Former winners of the show include Happy Mondays dancer Bez, Take That singer Mark Owen and stand-up comedian Jack Dee.
