Award-winning Elle editor resigns after three years in role

Emap Elan has announced that Elle editor Fiona McIntosh is stepping

down to work on ideas for new titles.

The timing of the news, with no permanent successor in place, is

unusual.

An appointment is expected in the new year. In the meantime, deputy

editor Margi Conklin and fashion director Iain Webb will co-edit the

magazine.

During her three years in the role, McIntosh has consolidated Elle's

sales lead over fashion rival Vogue and has been voted editor of the

year by both the PPA and the British Society of Magazine Editors.

McIntosh's move may see the re-emergence of Red Interiors - a new

project which has had no leader since Kath Brown moved to IPC to become

associate editor of Marie Claire.
