Award-winning designer adds sparkle to Motorola

LONDON - Motorola has tied up with top London designer Warren Noronha to launch a top-end phone aimed at the female market.

The new limited-edition V600 phone has been designed by the up-and-coming Noronha and features a flock of herons in flight with inset Swarovski crystals for eyes, set against a Chinoiserie background.

The phone will be launched next week at London Fashion Week, which runs from September 20-25, and will be available in mid-December through distributors of Noronha's collection.

The phone not only comes with a designer look, but also a designer price tag to match. Motorola is squarely targeting the high-end female market, with a provisional price-tag of around 拢500.

Leslie Dance, chief marketing officer at Motorola Europe, said: "We can not afford to ignore the female market. Women have embraced communications technology right from the start and demand more from their mobiles."

The 26-year-old Noronha, a graduate of Central St Martins, won the 2002 British Fashion Council New Generation Award for young designers.

The collaboration comes on the back of previous Motorola link-ups with top brands and designers such as Paul Smith, Oki-ni, Evisu and Adidas, and the company plans to work with more in the future. The phone will also present a challenge to other high-end phones designed for the female market, such as the radical Xelebri range.
