Auto Trader has signed a deal with Sky to advertise its classified cars, bikes, commercial and leisure vehicles through the digital satellite service on its Sky Active interactive platform.
Sky viewers will be able to search Auto Trader's database of more than 200,000 classified ads, as well as find advice on buying used motors.
The brand already runs iTV services on cable platforms ntl and Telewest, as well as ADSL service Kingston interactive in East Yorkshire.
Digital agency Victoria Real will develop and design the service, which will use Sky Interactive's WML browser technology. This allows viewers to use Sky Active services while keeping the TV broadcast in the corner of the screen.
Martyn Hammond, sales and marketing director for Auto Trader Digital, said: "This interactive services comes as part of Trader Media's strategy of ensuring we are securing every available channel.
"We have already noticed that there is a real difference to searches made through digital TV and the web site - digital users tend to look more at cars they may really be interested in, rather than the aspirational models that customers browse on the web."
