The Australian Tourist Commission (ATC) has appointed Delaney Lund
Knox Warren as its European ad agency, following a four-way pitch.
The agency beat incumbent D'Arcy, McCann-Erickson and Leagas Delaney to
the work. DLKW's sister media agency, BJK&E, will handle buying and
planning, while World Writers will adapt the ads for different
markets.
D'Arcy had handled the account globally for five years before the ATC
decided to split it into four regional accounts in January. Global media
buying was previously handled by MediaVest.
ATC European marketing head Glen Myatt said it was looking to cut costs
through greater use of advertising partnerships with airlines and tour
operators, and creating work that both builds the brand and promotes
specific retail propositions.
Myatt said that DLKW's size and the familiarity of senior agency staff
with the account were factors in its appointment. Strategy director
Richard Warren has previously worked on the account at Chiat Day, as has
strategic planning director Charlie Snow at D'Arcy.
