The content gives viewers the chance to be a passenger in an interactive race around the Indy Circuit at Brands Hatch - with Audi Sport Le Mans racing driver Oliver Jarvis at the wheel.T

The experience, unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which kicked off yesterday (23 June), runs until the 26 June. The Audi Pavilion will showcase highlights from Audi’s range of innovative production models and thought-provoking concept cars, while he experience itself will be available at the ‘Home of quattro’. Visitors can take part in a virtual race as they wait to experience a test drive in a variety of Audi quattro cars on an exhilarating 4x4 course.

Wearing Oculus Rift, visitors have the opportunity to choose which car they race in - either the Audi R8 V10 plus or the Audi RS 6 Performance.  A series of quick-thinking decisions are presented once the race has begun, with alternative outcomes filmed to show if the decision has been right - or wrong. In order to give users the option to make key driving decisions at different corners/events in the race, Visualise shot alternative outcomes for each decision.

The resulting experience contains immersive elements, with rumble bass, motion chairs and binaural audio, as well as interactive components, giving users the chance to make the kind of decisions that racing drivers have to do from instinct. Once the race has begun, viewers are faced with making key driving decisions at two different corners on the track.

Karen Boulton, communications manager at Audi UK, said: "We were keen to provide an interactive experience in the quattro area while people waited for their test drive, and what better way than to give them a chance to take part in a virtual reality race where they have to make quick decisions just like a professional racing driver? The experience Visualise and Vertical Productions have created has delivered on all of our expectations and we can’t wait to see people’s reactions at the festival."

Henry Stuart, founder and CEO of Visualise said: "This project really highlights the immersive possibilities of virtual reality. We were tasked with creating a project that gave people the opportunity to experience Audi Sport while waiting in the quattro area. Audi have a history of creating innovative and forward thinking cars, so we had to work to create an experience that brought the drive to life."
